Old work, someone else's work, a line that went wrong on a holiday you'd rather forget. Send us a clear photograph and we will tell you honestly what can be done with it.
What this one took
Colour, gone under black and grey.
The piece underneath was bright, saturated and cartoon-flat. What went over it is dense black and grey with its own depth, so the eye reads armour and chainmail instead of hunting for what used to be there.
That is one tattoo, not a rule. Yours will depend on how dark the existing ink is, how big it is and where it sits — which is why we ask for the photograph before we say anything about size, sessions or price.
Before you ask
Send a clear photo.
We cannot tell you what is realistic from a description. With a photograph we usually can, and often the same day.
- A clear, well-lit photo of the existing tattoo — straight on, not at an angle.
- Roughly how big it is, and where on the body it sits.
- What you would like there instead, if you already know. If you don't, say so.
- Whether you want colour or black and grey over it.
- Any reference images you have been saving.
Straight answers
Sometimes rework, not cover.
Not everything needs covering. Some pieces are better reworked — the existing tattoo kept and rebuilt rather than buried. Some are too dark or too large to cover well, and if that is what your photograph shows, we will say so rather than take the booking.
We don't do laser removal. If that is the honest first step, we will tell you that too.
